Super Hot Hyde Lounge Opens at the American Airlines Arena
Just in time for the start of the new NBA season, a chic spot to socialize in the American Airlines Area in Miami has opened its doors. The Hyde Lounge opened the same night as the Heat’s first game, which they won against the Boston Celtics. The Huffington Post reports the new luxury lounge includes Japanese dining options from Chef Danny Elmaleh, along with drinks and music. Those who manage to grab one of the limited number of reservations available and court-side ticket holders will have access to the lounge, which is open during Miami Heat games, concerts, and arena events. It is located on the south end of the arena on court level. Described by sbe, the company responsible for the Hyde Lounge concept, as a “chic, intimate getaway for those in the know,” the new Hyde Lounge at American Airlines Arena is “the ultimate in exclusive socializing.” Featuring dark wood, rich leather and cozy booths, Hyde Lounge has an inviting lush ambience perfect for unwinding. The opening of Hyde Lounge also coincided with the presentations of the NBA championship rings for the Miami Heat and the raising of the NBA championship banner. Hyde Lounge also has locations in Hollywood, the Staples Center, Las Vegas and South Beach. The company sbe was founded in 2002 by Sam Nazarian and quickly emerged as a leading force in the hospitality, real estate and entertainment industries. -HauteLiving.com

Miami Opening: Hyde at American Airlines Arena
With Sam Nazarian having stormed into SoBe earlier this year with the glamorous SLS Hotel South Beach, it only makes sense for his sbe Entertainment Group to start empire building in Florida's party capital. Mirroring the concept of their successful Hyde Lounge at Staples Center in LA, the new Hyde at American Airlines Arena is a collaboration with the Miami Heat, and will be fitted into the team's American Airlines Arena home. With an elegantly decadent interior by Icelandic designer Gulla Jonsdottir (Red O, among others), the 250-seat, court level lounge will dish up contemporary Japanese bites by chef Danny Elmaleh and sexed up cocktails like the Burning Mandarin (no actual Mandarins will be harmed in its making). A fair guess it will be teeming with the local sports cognoscenti.

Hyde nightclub opening at American Airlines Arena
Because sports and nightclubs go together like Kim & Kanye, Sam Nazarian, owner of the soon to open SLS Hotel South Beach, plans to partner with the Miami Heat to open a branch of his hyper hot celeb hangout Hyde at the AmericanAirlines Arena during next basketball season. “Arenas want to bring in the next level of experience, such as a nightlife component,”Nazarian told Bloomberg. According to the story, the club will feature multiple bars, lounge areas, flat-screen televisions and a private dining room. Danny Elmaleh, executive chef at the Los Angeles-area restaurants Cleo and Mercato di Vetro, will help develop the menu at Hyde AmericanAirlines Arena, and a mixology team will create cocktails with ingredients such as red pepper, some prepared with liquid nitrogen. The 5,000 square foot, 200-person capacity club will have its own entrance. No cover for game and concert goers. If you're eager enough and don't have tickets, you will pay to get in. If you can't get in there, there's always Hyde Beach at the SLS South Beach or, oh yeah, LIV at Sun Life Stadium and the creme de la creme of stadium, er, scenery: The Clevelander at Marlins Stadium.

Upscale lounge planned for Miami’s AmericanAirlines Arena
Would you like a little nightlife with your sporting event? The AmericanAirlines Arena has become the latest venue to announce the addition of an exclusive club area, following the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Marlins Park and Sun Life Stadium. The Heat Group on Wednesday announced a partnership with Los Angeles-based hospitality company sbe Entertainment Group — which is about to open a hotel on South Beach — to develop Hyde AmericanAirlines Arena, a posh lounge that will cater to VIPs and premium ticket holders. The lounge, scheduled to debut in late October for the 2012-13 basketball season, will be open during Heat games and concerts and available for private parties. It could also operate for promoted events when the arena is not in use. Michael Talansky, director of operations for sbeLIVE — the unit dedicated to partnerships with arenas and stadiums — said conversations have been ongoing with the Heat for about a year. “With the opening of the SLS Hotel South Beach, the timing was really perfect,” he said. He wouldn’t reveal how much the venue would cost to launch, but said the investment and revenues will be shared 50/50 with the Heat. “What I can say is it is a partnership in the truest sense of the word,” he said. “We all have an equal stake.” Located court-level on the south side of the arena in an area previously occupied by the Miami Sol locker room, the 5,000-square-foot space will be able to hold a maximum of 200 people. The lounge will include several bars, seating areas and a private dining room. “In one respect, Hyde will be a new amenity for our best customers,” Eric Woolworth, president of business operations for the Miami Heat, told Bloomberg News. “It adds a hip quotient and panache, and it’s also another space we can market for parties and private events.” The Miami Heat and sbe planned to discuss the move at a press conference Thursday night; the basketball team declined to make a representative available for an interview Wednesday. The only other stadium now with a Hyde Lounge now is Staples Center in Los Angeles, but talks are ongoing with several other teams including the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and Dallas Cowboys, Talansky said. “We’ve been approached by a lot of different operators and arenas,” he said. “This one was such a natural second choice for us after Staples because of our opening on South Beach.” Located at 1701 Collins Ave., the new SLS Hotel will include a Hyde Beach club. Since 2010, most of the area’s major sports venues have announced plans to open lounge or nightclub spaces. LIV Sun Life Stadium, similar to the popular club at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach, opened for the Miami Dolphins season in 2010. When Marlins Park opened earlier this month, it boasted a ballpark version of the Clevelander, famous for its South Beach location.
